Graphics Issues
- Aubergine
General
Before trying anything else, see if there are updates for your graphics and sound card drivers. Historically, updates to the drivers have fixed most problems reported by end users.
Slow frame rate
There are a number of reasons graphics speed might be slow:
- Outdated graphics card or graphics drivers - make sure you always have the latest drivers installed.
- Some old computers / graphics cards might not be able to handle large numbers of objects on a map - try without Scavengers and with fewer players
- Some laptops force a lower frame rate to conserve battery power.
- Big maps with lots of features (trees, skyscrapers, etc) are sometimes slow - try with different maps.
You can display the frame rate using the showfps
cheat code, or by editing the showFPS
setting in the config file.
Workarounds:
- Try turning off shadows in the Graphic Options Menu.
- Try turning off shaders in the Video Options Menu.
- Some users find that turning off sound in the Audio Options Menu increases frame rate by about 10fps.
- A bug in Warzone 3.1.0 caused some performance problems - try the warzone2100_portableT4.exe release if you're on Windows, or use 3.1 RC3 or a 3.1.1 or later release on other platforms
Windows specific issues
Note: When reporting graphics issues on Windows, it really helps if you can include a DXDiag report or GPU-Z in your big tickets or forum posts.
The following issues have been reported by Windows users...
Crashes in ig4icd32.dll
If you're using Intel Integrated Graphics, you might get crashes in ig4icd32.dll as reported in the Warzone2100.RPT file.
This is a known bug with Intel's integrated graphics drivers and not something that can be fixed from within Warzone. Please report the bug to Intel and ask them to fix their problems!
Workarounds:
- Upgrade to latest version of Intel's graphics card drivers
- Try turning off shaders in the Video Options Menu
- Try using TitaniumGL graphics driver – it converts OpenGL in to DirectX.
Mac specific issues
The following issues have been reported by Mac users...
White landscape on OS X 10.5.x
If you have a Nvidia based Mac running Mac OS X 10.5.6-10.5.9, you will almost certainly have the problem where all the ground textures are white.
This is caused by a known bug in the graphics drivers that ship with Mac OS X.
Workarounds:
- Upgrade to Mac OS X 10.6 or above (recommended solution)
- Try these alternate drivers (seems the installer is no longer available - please let us know if you can find it!)
Linux specific issues
The following issues have been reported by Linux users...
Flickering objects in fullscreen mode
If you are running Warzone on Linux, using Intel graphics with SNA (Sandy Bridge New Acceleration) enabled, and you experience flickering objects when in fullscreen mode, then you probably have some sort of compositing activated.
This is a known bug. However, a proper fix will take a while as the problem lies in the DRI2 protocol.
Workarounds:
- Deactivate SNA, use UXA instead (you will probably loose some performance)
- Deactivate compositing ("desktop effects")

Graphic Card Drivers
Almost all graphics related problems, and most game crash problems, can be fixed by installing the latest drivers for your graphics card.
To save you some time, here's a list of links to driver download pages for common graphics cards:
- Nvidia drivers
- AMD/ATI drivers
- Intel drivers
- S3 drivers (if not working, try this)
- Via drivers
You can find some more information in the WZ forums.
