The story behind the open sourcing of Warzone 2100...


The Warzone 2100 source code was released to the public on 7th December 2004.

In December 2004 Warzone was released by its copyright holders, Eidos-Interactive™, to the public under the GNU General Public License (GPL) (later clarified to include the soundtrack and videos as well), and the Warzone 2100 Project (formerly known as Warzone 2100 Resurrection Project) was born, to continue developing the game as an open source project.
