Map Ideas

Bunker Map (Second Person view)

Inspired by Aurora map, a map that depicts the bunker where Project have been sheltering from Nuclear Winter.

Completely different gameplay to usual - no fighting, player has to seek out items for their first above-ground mission.

Terrain and skybox will be used to make it look like insides of bunker.

Many features / textures will be required for all sorts of random stuff.

Player will have single unit, able to move around.

AI players will be allied with player, and act as NPCs.

Player moves close to NPC to talk to them, things like chat interface used (could get hairy – would prefer some other way!)

Skybox animation will be used to depict bunker doors opening.

Will need greater control over reticule buttons, intelligence reports, etc.

OS Map (Third Person view)

With most technology badly damaged, and no access to satellites, GPS, etc., the first outside mission will be very different to normal maps.

The terrain will be painted with an Open Street Map texture. Structures will look more like icons on the map, units will look like beacons.

Will need access to mouse position, and mouse/keyboard interactions, etc.

Primary focus will be on getting food and water.

Strict time limits to avoid radiation poisoning from atmosphere.

Tech Office map (First Person view)

Note: Commander back at base watching action via cam feed.

Mission will focus on getting a better visualisation of the terrain, so player will be looking for cameras, equipment to build sensors, etc.

They will enter a pre-Collapse office that belonged to a tech magazine which reviewed new consumer tech, looking for goodies.

Map will give impression of being in an office, very badly damaged.

Player navigates around finding artifacts.

Ability to go to stairwell to reach higher levels.

First encounter with marauders - shootout within the office.

The search begins

After researching artifacts, things start to look more WZ-like from visual perspective.

Team realise they are going to need weapons, in addition to obvious things like food, air conditioning, protection from atmosphere, etc.

Fighting breaks out over cans of dog food.

Battles in streets with marauders. First infantry produced.
