A rough draft of an API for implementing factions...

 

Notes

This started out as a random excursion in to "spelling alphabets" for the various Warzone factions (Scavs, Nexus, etc).

It got me thinking more about giving factions defined personalities which would not only affect what units and structures they use, but their gameplay style and even how they would interact with the end-user (eg. via chat messages and audio).

So, I threw together a few lines of code but didn't get much further.

I think for real faction support the tech tree would need massive alterations. For starters, each faction would stick to it's own bodies and the pro's and con's associated with them would drive gameplay style and droid configs. Taking that further it would obviously affect the research paths used by factions – they'd have to play to their strengths and mask their weaknesses.
