How to interact with other players in skirmish, challenge and multiplayer games...

Alliance Modes

When setting up a game, you can choose from one of three alliance modes:

IconNotes

No alliances

An "every man for himself" scenario where you have to defeat all other players to win.

Dynamic alliances

Players can choose to create or break alliances at any time during the game.

You win when all enemies are dead, you lose as soon as you are killed.

Fixed teams

Players are put in to fixed teams that cannot change during the game.

You win when all enemies are dead, you lose when your entire team is dead.

Dynamic Alliances

When dynamic alliance mode is active, players can change alliance with other players at any time during the game.

Click on the Intelligence icon to list all players:

You can then use the following buttons to change alliance settings...

ButtonNotes

Offer alliance

An offer to form an alliance will be sent to the associated player.

Accept alliance request

Accept an offer from another player and be allied with them.

Break alliance

Reject an offer from another player and be enemies with them.

Kicking laggy players

If a player loses network connection, the game host can kick them from the game to allow the remaining players to keep playing.

Click on the Intelligence icon to list all players:

Locate the phone icon for the laggy player...

 or

Click and hold the right mouse button over the phone, and while holding the right mouse button click the left button to kick the player.

Chat: Sending messages

Press Enter to open the command console, then type your message, then press Enter again to send it.

Your message will, by default, be sent to all players in the game.

Filtering Messages

You can filter your messages to allies by prefixing them with ., or filter to a specific player (a "private message") by prefixing messages with their player number.

Examples:

.hello allies – will send the message to all allies

2hello player 2 – will send the message only to player 2

123hello players 1, 2 and 3 – will send message to players 1, 2 and 3

You can put spaces after the dot or player number if desired.

Setting default filters for messages

Click on the Intelligence icon to list all players:

You can then use the following buttons to configure unfiltered message sending...

ButtonNotes

Receives any messages

You can communicate with the player via normal, ally and private messages.

Only receives filtered messages

You can only communicate with the player via private messages.

Click the button to toggle its state.

Note for spectators

If you're a spectator, it's common etiquette not to chat to active players in the game as it distracts them.

Chatting to AIs

In Warzone 2.3.9 and earlier, or Warzone 3.2 and above, most AIs will listen for chat messages. While there's currently no list of which commands different AIs will accept, there are a few commands that most will understand:

help

Almost all chat-enabled AIs understand this command, but they usually require you to drop a beacon first to show them where you want the help sending. Some AIs might send help to your base if no beacon was dropped. Note that in most cases an AI will only send help if it has enough units nearby.

power

Some AIs will transfer power to you if you ask nicely.

truck

Some AIs will transfer a truck to you if they have one spare. This can be useful in fixed team matches – if you get killed but one of your allies is still alive, the game is not lost! Try and get a truck and you can rebuild and get back in to the game.

ally

Some AIs will consider your request to ally with them via chat command when the game is running in alliances mode.

Beacons: Pinpoint map locations

You can highlight locations on the map by placing beacons. A beacon is a red flashing blob that appears on the map and mini map.

The default keyboard shortcut for placing beacons is: Alt + H

You can only place one beacon at a time (as a human player) – if you place a new beacon the old one will be removed.

Beacons last for about a minute and then disappear.

Transfers: Power and Droids

You can transfer power and units (droids) to allies to help them survive.

Click on the Intelligence icon to list all players:

You can do the following types of transfers, but only with allies:

ButtonNotes

Transfer Power

This button will transfer some of your power to the player.

Transfer Units

Select some of your units and then click this button to transfer ownership of those units to the player.
