Transport | The audio for transports is relatively easy to use - just sequence the relevant sounds as desired on your movie timeline. One nice effect is to use the takeoff sound not just for takeoff but also when the transport is climbing, for example when it has to gain altitude to fly over a mountain. You can also switch between the flight and hover sounds to add some variation to the sound of a flying transport. |
Hovercraft | The audio file begins with the hovercraft startup sound, then transitions to the hovercraft movement sound and finally ends with the hovercraft shutdown sound. You can clip off the start and end of the audio if you just need the movement sound, and once you have the movement sound it's easy to sequence additional segments of the same audio for longer hovercraft movement scenes. |
Truck | The truck audio file works the same way as the hovercraft one - it has a startup, movement and shutdown sequence in the single audio file. Just clip the file to get the bits of audio you require. |
Tips & Tricks
Be sure to adjust the audio volume as a vehicle gets further away from the camera, but try and keep it audible over any music track.
...
If your video editing software enables it, and if it's easy enough to do, try and alter the balance (left vs. right volume) of the audio to match where the vehicle is on screen. But keep it subtle - whatever side of the video the vehicle is on, it's still pretty much directly in front of the viewer so keep the audio balance near the center.
